Musings of a child

I remember when I was much younger, my mother would wake us up for morning devotion. Most times, I would get upset that she was taking too long even though I tried not to let her see it . So many times, she would tell me that God loves me and how I should move closer to Him, but I was too carried away with my struggles and pain. I used to feel I was being punished whenever we have to leave home early for church or go for bible studies. As I grew older and more matured, I realized that she wasn’t punishing me, rather building my spiritual life and preparing me for life and it’s many battles.

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb in His reward. Psalms127: 3.

Few weeks ago, I watched a true life movie of a girl called KENNEDY HANSEN, who was diagnosed with JUVENILE BATTEN DISEASE, an extremely rare terrible and terminal prognosis. Kennedy was a unique child, born with a unique gift of LOVE, growing up in a fun, loving and strong family, she was able to enjoy life and touch lives in her own little way. Though Kennedy died at the age of 16, a very young age indeed, she left behind a great legacy of love and friendship.

All children are born unique. As parents God is depending on you to partner with Him because He has great plans for us.

He desires your child(ren)to grow up knowing and serving Him, but how do you present God to your children? How do they perceive your relationship with God?

Are they attracted to God or they just can’t wait to be out the door and be free from the hypocritical life you live in the name of the Lord?

It is so critical for us children to have the RIGHT EXAMPLE and TEACHER to learn from.

A solid family produces solid children.

We yearn to spend time with you parents, to discuss our ideas, dreams and worries with you. We need you parents to be our go-to Counsellor and friend.

We know how busy and sometimes challenging your world can be as parents. We know balancing all you do for us, your careers and your life can daunting.

But guess what? Most of the issues you parents have with your children stems from a need, ATTENTION!!!

Parents, please keep lines of communication open. Communication makes it easier to tell what’s going on in our lives.

As children we desire to be different, in a good way, but importantly we need you our parents to show us how to.

TRAIN and TEACH us values and virtues that will prepare us for the leadership roles we hear so often about “children being the future leaders”. We want to make you proud.

I am grateful for the privilege of loving parents, the training and instructions in the fear of the Lord, for establishing in us the values of home training, love, respect, kindness and humility.

I wish every child and every child of God, A HAPPY CHILDREN’S DAY.

Tsom will like to appreciate Oluwafunmike for this post. And we encourage you to listen to the lyrics of the video by Lauren in this post.

  1. Thank you Oluwafunmike and TSOM for this post. The post and lyrics of Lauren’s song ministered to me, that I need to actively show my children what God’s words say about them.

    1. Thank you sis, what we say to our children is the ‘manure’ that enables them to grow loved and with the capacity to love others and do go.

  2. Thanks for the write up, may God continue to bless your ministry.
