For the love of money

For the love of money

The bible says “For the love of money [that is, the greedy desire for it and the willingness to gain it unethically] is the root of all sorts of evil,…” (1 Timothy‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

Honestly I just shudder at the all the news flying around about the extent and the audacity of people to get rich at all cost not minding the degree of evil, shame or danger involved.

How did we get here?

There are certain things you hear and just makes wonder.

I understand that for many, the economic situation has gone from good to bad, bad to worse, and because of the failure of the system things are going south, but is that enough excuse? The youth of today does not understand the concept of hard work, diligence and patience. They are so eager to have the good things of life without breaking a sweat. even our young ladies are not left out of this craze to make money at all costs.

This brings me to stories circulating social media of young ladies becoming a part of this craze to make money at all costs, joining cults and doing the unthinkable to ‘hook’ rich men, and the merchandising of aphrodisiac induced potions that are specifically prepared and administered on their male victims, who under the influence do anything as requested by their female partners. The list of the heinous activities our family members are getting into all in the pursuit of wealth is growing by the day.

Now my concern is not that this wickedness exists, after all the bible says  “Evil people will keep on being evil, and everyone who is dirty-minded will still be dirty-minded...” Revelation‬ ‭22:11‬ ‭CEV‬‬. I strongly believe the family unit is the real victim here, and the target to be destroyed. The predator and the prey come from a family, and these families get exposed to several other things and as I reflect more on this, the more convinced I am that this war against the family needs a collective and definite approach.

As fathers, the buck starts with us, the society is only a reflection of the decay we ignore in the home front. That future and godly society we desire for our children is sown and nurtured in the child at home through godly parenting. What are your family values, what are you teaching your children about life, hard work, contentment, wealth, integrity, responsibility?  Fathers how are we conducting our lives and affairs, can your family see through your lifestyle that godliness and contentment is great gain? Where are the fathers? Your family must not be destroyed on your watch. That beautiful daughter and strong son must grow up valuable to the family and society. And never fail to discipline when the need arises.

Let us not give up. We can do this. Train and teach your children so they are not enticed by their mates who seem to be doing nothing much but making it big. Watch the company they keep, the devil ( and it’s cubs) as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may destroy (with my emphasis). We need to pray, enlighten, educate and empower people because if not properly checked, the economic situation will adduce more reasons why our youth continue in this ungodly path.

The love of money is truly the root of all evil.
What some people of today just think about is money.
It is sad money is not everything.

The desperate pursuit for money at all any cost is frightening, God help us.

It is really sad how the quest to make quick money has eaten up moral values in the society like a cankerworm. The truth of the matter us the values imbibed in children right fron home by the parents. Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. … You cannot serve both God and Money.” “Do not love the world nor the things in the world If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Thank you sis for this contribution. Sad that values are being eroded and the social media influencers are not helping our youth who see all the display of wealth without any tangible source of income.

Love of money is the root of all evil. Without money too,an individual is frustrated. Teaching people to be contented will go a long way to reduce the evil acts. Pray to have wealth is necessary,. God do answer prayers though in this case he will give his own children wealth without sorrow & will also consider what that child wants to use the for. Is it to bless his kingdom. Even as you do not lack anything.

Thank you sis, I totally agree that contentment is very key, reminds of the words of Proverbs 30:7-9 which says “God, I ask you to do two things for me before I die. Don’t let me tell lies. And don’t make me too rich or too poor—give me only enough food for each day. If I have too much, I might deny that I need you, Lord. But if I am too poor, I might steal and bring shame to the name of my God.” ‭

Getting to this point is crucial and that is why educating the younger generation is so important.

There’s dignity in hardwork. Wealth is not built on laziness neither is it the only definition of success. One we get this and teach our children at home this, we can start changing the society!

Teaching an important component of the solution but I believe the children should learn from us as parents. If a child sees his parents work hard for what they have it models the child automatically. Parents owe their children a better future I pray we do right by them.
