02 Dec Powered by Grace
Not sure how to start this, I am so aware of how 2020 has been a year of many experiences for everyone. It is not a year a lot of us will forget quickly.
Personally, as I put my thoughts and emotions into perspective I must unapologetically declare 2020 has been a very blessed year. Despite all the disruptions, uncertainties and resultant challenges, I choose to see things differently.
It is so easy to get distressed, especially when you have little or no control over a situation. And I do not in any way disregard the experiences of others because we have all been stretched physically, mentally, emotionally and in our faith.
I remember my state of mind at the onset of the pandemic, I thought of my family, friends, loved ones home and abroad, so many questions and scenarios played off in my head. I was shaken and in dire need of comfort. Too much negative news and information flying around. Then one night while praying I asked the Lord to give me His assurance, a Word I could hold on to as an anchor through ‘the storm’ and He did. In fact He did better than that, He showed me exactly what He meant.
“…When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight [for He will come like a rushing stream which the breath of the Lord drives]..” Isaiah 59:19 AMPC
And so began my journey through the year. Yes I had moments I ran back for more assurances, more grace, endless help, but I am talking about The Great I AM, Who is rich in mercy and with such overwhelming reckless love for me.
It was (and always will be) essential to trust Him, I clung to Him because it was important to unburden and share how I was feeling, I drew strength from Him ( 2Corinthians 12:9).
The fellowship from my support group, a close knit group of Christian women, who came together weekly to study the Word, share experiences, laugh and encourage one another were moments that helped me greatly in keeping strong for myself and for others around me.
“…Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 MSG
God made a way for you, for me and here we are, I am so excited we are alive today. By His grace we have been preserved, and I know that the year will end in much praise (to Him) because He is God, famous for doing …far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! Oh, yes!” Ephesians 3:20-21 MSG
I pray you experience and enjoy His goodness the remaining days of this year and beyond. Amen.
PS: This song really puts things in perspective, for me, hope it does same for you.
